Rutgers-Notre Dame Final Score: Scarlet Knights Fall To The Irish, 71-53

Stay connected for news and updates

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights jousted away at the Fighting Irish, but it was to no avail. Notre Dame easily turned aside Rutgers by a final score of 71-53 on Wednesday night.

The Scarlet Knights were down by five points, 28-33, after the first half. The Irish bested their efforts, both on offense and defense in the second half, holding Rutgers to just 25 points while they went on to add 38 to their total.

A big part of the problem was that the Knights had no answers for Notre Dame forward Jack Cooley. He lead the field with 22 points, but was an absolute beast at the boards with 18 rebounds. The Irish had four other players score in double figures.

Dane Miller led Rutgers with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Eli Carter was the only other player in double figures with just 10 points.

It was the fourth loss in a row for Rutgers, who has failed to string together consecutive wins since December. The schedule gets even tougher for the Scarlet Kights on Sunday afternoon when they host Syracuse.
