The "Loud House" should be, well, loud Saturday, as the No. 2-Syracuse Orange host the Connecticut Huskies in a Big East Conference men's basketball game (1 p.m. on CBS). That's because an expected crowed of 31,000-plus should be in attendance. That mark will easily help SU set a season-high for an NCAA on-campus crowd and should result in a tough atmosphere for the struggling UConn, which has lost five of its last six games.
Here's some more quick tidbits about Syracuse vs. UConn:
Big recruiting day for Orange
This be a huge recruiting day for Syracuse, which will host five-star center Nerlens Noel, the No. 1-overall ranked player by ESPN Recruiting in the Class of 2012, and five-star point guard Tyler Ennis, Class of '13, as both recruits are making visits.
Noel (6-foot-10, 205 pounds) is being strongly recruited by the Orange and powerhouse programs like UConn, Kentucky Wildcats and North Carolina Tar Heels. Noel is considered one of the better defensive prospects to come a long in the last few years and could really be a force manning the middle of Jim Boeheim's 2-3 zone.
Syracuse recruit paces team, helps them to victory
On Friday night, Orange verbal commit, power forward Jerami Grant, recruit for the Class of '12, led DeMatha Catholic in scoring (19 points) as it routed Washington, D.C. area rival Gonzaga College High School, 76-47, in Hyattsville, MD.
On Thursday, Syracuse five-star recruit, center DaJaun Coleman from nearby Jamesville-Dewitt High School, was named to the McDonald's All-American roster. The game will be played March 28 on ESPN at 9:30 p.m.
ESPN reveals new power-rankings system for college hoops
Early Saturday morning, ESPN reveiled its new rankings system for college basketball. The rankings, which is similar (but not) to the RPI rankings system, is suppose to help be a better measuring stick to how good a team really is. Its results?
The Kentucky Wildcats are No. 1 while Syracuse is No. 2.
And they were suppose to find something we already didn't know?
