NFL Draft Prospects And Projections 2011: DeLone Carter Has A Monster Performance At Syracuse Football's Pro Day

The Syracuse football program's Pro Day for NFL scouts, coaches and general managers took place Wednesday at SU's Manley Field House. 16 former Orange football players lifted weights, ran the 40-yard dash and performed drills to try and improve their NFL Draft stock. Out of the dozen or so participants one, running back DeLone Carter, seemed to get the most attention by NFL decision makers.

"Delone did exceptionally well today," said William Hicks -- SU's Director Of Athletic Performance. "He upped his (NFL Combine) numbers today and did well in the position work."

However, it seems that Carter's position work was an afterthought as the East-West Shrine Game MVP, who is listed at 5-foot-7, 225 pounds, entered the showcase appearing bigger and stronger than he was just a few weeks ago.

"I've been just saying in touch with coach Hicks and continuing to work out where I was training in Florida -- API -- and came back here to keep working with coach Hicks and was prepared for today," said Carter when asked about his secret of bulking up.

"(At the Combine) I did what I expected to do and a little bit better and the coaches were pleased," Carter said. "(My goals today were to) just to improve what I did in Indy and, you know, show these coaches I am willing to learn how to take criticism and get better."

The voice of the Orange, Matt Park, wrote this about Carter's physique.

"Carter has been big from the time he stepped on campus. He is now officially huuuuuuge, Tom. If the National Football League or its Players Association either had the willingness to stretch as much the workout shirt he was wearing today, the lockout would be over."

After watching the video posted at SUathletics.com, there's no debating that Carter is a monster ready to turn NFL middle linebackers into dust. Currently, Carter is ranked the ninth-best running back on the Nation Football Posts Big Board.
