The Big East took some lumps during the last week of college basketball games. Two of the area teams, Rutgers and St. John's were not immune to that phenomenon while No. 3 Syracuse was. Rutgers dropped two games in the Cancun Challenge. St. John's split their two games last week but enters the current week off of a 78-64 loss at the hands of Northeastern. Syracuse topped Virginia Tech and Stanford last week en route to claiming the Dick's Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-off tournament.
This week, the SEC-Big East Challenge begins. Syracuse hosts the Florida Gators on Dec. 2. St. John's will travel to Rupp Arena to take on the Kentucky Wildcats on Dec. 1. Rutgers will host LSU on Dec. 3 (TV: ESPNU).
