USF 23, Syracuse 10: End Of Third Quarter

A 35-yard field goal by junior kicker Maikon Bonani has helped the University of South Florida earn a 23-10 lead over Syracuse University in a Big East Conference game that is heading to the fourth quarter. Bonani's kick capped a 15-play, 80-yard drive that began the second half and nearly got into the end zone.

The Bulls (4-4, 0-4 Big East) slowly marched their way inside SU's 10-yard line, but a back-to-back holding calls lead to a 3rd-and-25 situation that ended with a 11-yard pass to freshman wide out Deonte Welch. A few players earlier, junior wide receiver Lamar Lindsey nearly scored on a reverse, but the play was nullified by a holding.

On USF's second possession of the quarter, the Bulls almost scored again as junior wide receiver Victor Marc, who was headed into the end zone after catching a pass from Daniels, fumbled the ball, which rolled through the end zone for a SU touchback.

SU took that break and flipped the field position on its next possession. Then, after it had to punt and got some help from its defense, which held USF to a three and out, it began to march.

Syracuse will begin the fourth quarter with a first and goal from the USF eight-yard line.
