Two touchdown passes by freshman quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has helped the University of Louisville take a 14-0 advantage over visiting Syracuse University in a Big East Conference game at Papa John's Cardinals Stadium. Louisville (3-4, 1-1 Big East) used just four plays, including a 42-yard TD to freshman wide receiver DeVante Parker, to march 92 yards and score its first open-drive touchdown of the season. Then, on its third possession of the quarter, the Cardinals used a nine-play, 50-yard drive, capped by a two-yard TD reception by senior tight end Josh Chichester, to help take a 14-point lead.

Surprisingly,  the Cardinals could be leading 21-0, but a holding call, on Louisville's second possession of the quarter, took a TD pass of the board and then a fumble, a play later, allowed SU gain possession.

The Orange (5-2, 1-1), who are looking to become bowl eligible for the second straight season, went three-and-out on their two first-quarter possessions, but will start the second quarter near midfield after converting two first downs on its third possession of the quarter.
