A new Syracuse men's basketball season is quickly approaching, but before it tipped off SB Nation bloggers Sean Keeley, creator of Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician, and Jared Smith, beat writer for SB Nation New York, decided to look back on last season's remarkable campaign.

The Syracuse Orange men's basketball season begins in exactly one week when the No. 9-ranked team in the nation hosts Pace University in an exhibition contest at the Carrier Dome (7 p.m.).

However, before the Orange tip off what's expected to be another successful campaign, SB Nation New York's Syracuse beat blogger Jared Smith was invited by Sean Keeley, the creator of the Syracuse blog Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician, to participate in podcast that recapped the 2011-12 season.

What ensued was an epic hour-plus talkathon that covered the team's remarkable success while dealing with the Bernie Fine scandal with head coach Jim Boeheim; the loss of center Fab Melo not once but twice; and a three-month investigation into a drug scandal coverup.

Despite all of that, Syracuse was able to win a school-record 34 victories, make it to the Elite 8 without the Big East Conference Defensive Player of the Year and help Boeheim surpass Dean Smith for third on the men's all-time Division I victories list.

The podcast can be found here at Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician.
