Women's 2012 NCAA Tournament: Baylor Completes Perfect Season With 80-61 Win Over Notre Dame

The Baylor Bears took out the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 80-61, during Tuesday night's national championship game. Brittney Griner scored 26 points to take home MVP honors.

2012 Women's NCAA Tournament Bracket And Schedule: Top-Seeds UConn, Notre Dame Look To Avoid Upsets

Now that the men's Final Four is all set, it's time for the women to round out Elite Eight action at the 2012 Women's NCAA Tournament. The No. 1 seeds have been dominant so far, with Baylor and Stanford punching their tickets to Denver after convincing wins over Tennessee and Duke, respectively, on Monday night.

Two more 2-vs-1 matchups are on tap for Tuesday. The Connecticut Huskies are on the precipice of their fifth straight trip to the tournament's semifinals. To get there, they will need to take out a No. 2-seed Kentucky Wildcats squad with its heart set on an upset. The two teams will tip-off in the first Elite Eight game of the night. The No. 2 seed Maryland Terrapins will try to take out the No. 1 seed Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the late game.

NCAA Women's Tournament 2012 Sweet 16, Notre Dame Vs. St. Bonaventure Score: Irish Lead Bonnies, 35-13, At Halftime

Natalie Novosel has scored a game-high 10 points to help the No. 1-seeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish earn a 35-13 lead over No. 5 St. Bonaventure Bonnies in a NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament, Sweet 16 contest in Raleigh, Nc. The winner advances to the Elite 8 to play No. 2 Maryland Terrapins on Tuesday.

St. Bonaventure started the game missing nine of its first 10 shots, and finished the half making just 16-percent. Sophomore guard Doris Ortega leads the Bonnie in scoring with seven points, while Cece Dixon (5) and Jennie Ashton (1) are the only other St. Bonaventure players to net a points.

Overall, Notre Dame has shot 42-percent from the floor and has out-rebounded the Bonnies, 24-19.

NCAA Women's Tournament 2012, St. Bonaventure Vs. Notre Dame: Game Time, TV Schedule, Radio Stream

The St. Bonaventure Bonnies and Notre Dame Fighting Irish women's basketball programs face off Sunday at 2:32 p.m. ET on ESPN2. Both schools will be trying to earn a trip to the NCAA Women's Tournament's Elite 8, where they will play either Texas A&M or Maryland in the regional finals on Tuesday.

This will be the Bonnies first Sweet 16 appearance in its program's history, as they making the most of its first NCAA Tournament invite. So far, St. Bonaventure, the Raleigh region's No. 5 seed, knocked off Florida Gulf Coast and Marist, respectively.

Meanwhile, the top-seeded Irish have rolled into the Sweet 16 with convincing victories over Liberty and Cal.

Location: PNC Center in Raleigh, NC.

Game Time: 2:32 p.m. ET

Women's 2012 NCAA Tournament, St. John's Vs. Oklahoma: Red Storm Advances To Sweet 16

The St. John's Red Storm held off a late charge from the Oklahoma Sooners to hang on for a 74-70 win and advance to the Sweet 16 of the 2012 NCAA Women's Tournament. They led by seven points midway through the second half thanks to a 10-1 run. The Sooners pulled back within one point at 64-63 on a Sharane Campbell shot with 5:20 to go in the game. They wouldn't get any closer, however, as the Red Storm amped up its defense and slowly pulled away.

St. John's scored 21 points off of 19 forced turnovers to make up for a shaky 41.5 percent shooting performance from the floor. Four players reached double-digit point totals, led by Eugenia McPherson's 21 on 6-for-14 shooting, including 2-for-2 from 3-point range.

The Sooners held a significant rebounding advantage (34-25). They were led offensively and defensively by Whitney Hand's 16 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Aaryn Ellenberg struggled for most of the game, picking up just eight points and turning the ball over five times. She went 0-for-4 from behind the arc, including a missed 3-pointer from the top of the key with 37 seconds left that would have tied the game.

With the win, the No. 3 seed Red Storm will face the No. 2 seed Duke Blue Devils in the regional semifinals Saturday in what should be one of the better matchups of the tournament so far.

Women's 2012 NCAA Tournament, St. Bonaventure Vs. Marist: Bonnies Clinch Sweet 16 Berth

The St. Bonaventure Bonnies have so far made the most of their first NCAA Women's Tournament appearance in school history, winning two straight to advance to the Sweet 16. Tuesday night, they took out the Marist Red Foxes 66-63, but not before yet another tight finish.

The Bonnies led by as many as 10 points in the first half, but the Red Foxes pulled even and eventually took a 43-42 lead on a Brandy Gang 3-pointer with 15 minutes to go in the game. The lead changed hands three times over the next 5:30 before the Bonnies took the lead for good at 52-49 on a Chelsea Bowker 3-pointer.

Marist had a chance to tie the game with 1:25 to go in regulation. Kelsey Beynnon was fouled on a made layup, but missed the free throw that would have tied the game at 64-64. The Bonnies then ran nearly a minute off the clock on a single possession, securing two offensive rebounds to force Marist to foul out of desperation. Cece Dixon made both of her free throws to put the Bonnies up 66-63 with 23 seconds to go.

Jessica Jenkins led all scorers with 22 points on 7-for-17 shooting. She had made 45 straight free throws when she was fouled with 10 seconds to go in the game. She missed off the back of the rim, however, giving Marist one last chance to tie the game with a 3-pointer. The shot was just off to the right at the buzzer, giving St. Bonaventure the win.

Doris Ortega chipped in 13 points and 10 rebounds in the win for the game's only double-double. Gang led the Red Foxes with 19 points on 5-for-10 shooting from the floor, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. St. Bonaventure will play the No. 1 seed Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Sweet 16 on Sunday.

NCAA Women's Tournament 2012, St. John's Vs. Creighton Preview

The St. John's Red Storm women's basketball team, the No. 3 seed in the Fresno Region, will begin their possible march toward the NCAA Tournament's Final Four Sunday, as they play the No. 14 seed Creighton Bluejays in a first-round contest at 5:05 p.m. ET on ESPN2. The winner will move onto the second round to face either the No. 6 seed Oklahoma Sooners or No. 11 seed Michigan Wolverines on Tuesday in Norman, OK.

After finishing the regular season with a 22-9 overall record, the Red Storm earned their highest-ever seed in the NCAA Tournament. St. John's previous high ca,e in 2010, when they earned a No. 6 seed.

Meanwhile, the Bluejays earned an automatic bid into the tournament by winning the Missouri Valley Conference Championship.

NCAA Women's Tournament 2012, St. Bonaventure Vs. Florida Gulf Coast Preview

The St. Bonaventure Bonnies women's basketball program, the No. 5 seed in the Raleigh Region, will begin their quest for a NCAA Tournament Final Four appearance Sunday as they take on the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles in a first-round contest at 2:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2. The winner will advance to the Round of 32 to play either No. 4 seed Georgia or No. 13 seed Marist.

The Bonnies (29-2) enter the tournament for the first time in program history after earning an at-large berth. St. Bonaventure, the favorite to win the Atlantic 10 Tournament, was defeated by the Dayton Flyers, who earned the league's automatic bid.

Meanwhile, the Eagles (29-2) earned an invite by winning the Atlantic Sun Championship.
