The St. John's Red Storm will conclude their Midwest road swing Wednesday as they travel to play No. 25 Marquette Golden Eagles in a Big East Conference contest (7 p.m. on ESPNU) at Bradley Center in Milwaukee, WI. The Red Storm (8-7, 2-2 Big East) are coming off a buzzer-beating victory Saturday against the Cincinnati Bearcats, while the Golden Eagles (12-4, 1-2) have dropped four of the last six games, including two straight in the league.
On Saturday, freshman guard Moe Harkless tipped-in a time-expiring shot to help St. John's sink Cincinnati, 57-55, for its first road victory. Harkless finished the game with 14 points for the Red Storm, who trailed by 15 points with about 10 minutes remaining.
Currently, Harkless sits second in the team in scoring with 15.3 points per game, while D'Angelo Harrison (16.0 ppg) paces the Johnnies overall.
Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles have lost four of their last six games, including a tough 73-66 loss to No. 1-ranked Syracuse Orange Saturday at the Carrier Dome. Marquette, which trailed by as much as 23 points, used a solid second-half effort to trim the margin, but couldn't pull off the upset.
Statistically, senior guard Darius Johnson-Odom is pacing the Golden Eagles in scoring with 18.0 ppg, while senior forward Jae Crowder is averaging 16.5 ppg and is tops in rebounding with 7.3 per game.
