2012 NFL Draft: Mohamed Sanu Of Rutgers Will Enter Draft

A disappointing but expected answer came Tuesday for Rutgers University football fans, as junior wide receiver Mohamed Sanu announced his plans to forgo his senior year and enter the 2012 NFL Draft, which will take place April 26-28. Sanu (6-foot-2, 215-pounds) compiled a Big East Conference and school record 115 receptions for 1,206 yards and seven touchdowns, and according to some NFL mock drafts is expected to be selected in last-first or early-second rounds.

"It was a tough decision," said Sanu, "I defiantly was thinking about coming back. I love Rutgers so much and just being around my teammates all the time. I am going to missed that. I am going to miss the family and the cohesiveness of just being around everybody everyday."

Sanu said that his final decision about going pro or not came this past weekend, and some of the factors that figured into his decision was his statistical number that he felt were pretty much maxed out and his age -- Sanu is 22-years-old and will be 23 in early August.

"I'm really excited for him," said Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano. "I think he's going to be a great professional athlete."

Sanu would not say when NFL draft experts or scouts expected him to go, but he did said that their opinions did have an effect on his decision. Currently, SB Nation's Mocking The Draft blog has Sanu going in the second round (34th overall) to the Minnesota Vikings.
