Rutgers Football Coaching Search: Interim Coach Flood Interviewed For Permanent Job

Rutgers may not end up having to look too far to replace the recently-departed Greg Schiano, as interim head coach Kyle Flood has been interviewed for the full-time head coaching job, according to a report from ESPN New York.

Flood, who has spent the past seven seasons as the Rutgers offensive line coach, has never been a head coach before, but feels confident that he's prepared, "I've been working 19 years for this," Flood said. "Either John Wooden or Bill Walsh said you're never ready for your first head coaching job, but I'm as ready as I'll ever be."

He also indicated that the entirety of Rutgers 17-member recruiting class is intact despite Schiano leaving, a positive sign as national signing day creeps closer (February 1st).

Athletic director Tim Pernetti did not rule out the possibility of a permanent head coach being hired before national signing day.
