Behind a team-best 15 points from freshman guard D'Angelo Harrison, the St. John's University men's basketball program defeated Fordham University, 56-50, Saturday in a Madison Square Garden Holiday Festival contest in New York. Braden Frazier netted a game-best 17 points for the Rams (4-6), who trailed by as much as 16 points in the second half, but fought their way back into the game.
With 1:58 to go, Fordham trimmed the Johnnies' advantage to just three points, 53-50, but the Rams' late-game run fell short when their final four shots didn't fall. St. John's (5-5) cemented its victory with a free throw from Phil Green and two from Sir'Dominic Pointer.
Forwards, freshman Moe Harkless and junior God'sgift Achiuwa, each posted double-doubles for the Johnnies. Harless netted 13 points and collected a team-best 13 rebounds, while Achiuwa scored 10 points and snagged 12 rebounds.
Chris Gaston tallied a team-best 13 rebounds and netted 11 points for Fordham.
