Final Score: Rutgers 66, Hampton 52

Sophomore forward Gilvydas Biruta netted a game-best 17 points and collected a collegiate-best 12 rebounds to the help the Rutgers University men's basketball program defeat Hampton University, 66-52, in a non-conference contest at the RAC in Piscataway, NJ. Freshman guard Jerome Seagears chipped in with 10 bench points for the Scarlet Knights (3-1).

Rutgers, which shot just 31.7 percent from the field, led 30-23 at the half and extended its lead to 42-27 with a 12-4 run to start the second half. 

For Hampton (1-2) was led by Darrion Pellum, who netted 21 points, and Jasper Williams, who added 12. Overall, the Pirates committed 26 turnovers and shot just 36.6-percent from the field.
