The Scarlet Knights and Syracuse Orange are carrying the local flag into bowl season.

The 2012 college football season is almost complete, and that means it's time to start projecting bowl games.

In the New York area, two Big East teams are now bowl eligible.

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights have long been in the picture with an 8-1 record. Rutgers has been led by quarterback Gary Nova and running back Jawan Jamison, both of whom are projected to star in the Belk Bowl against the Duke Blue Devils of the ACC.

Duke got off to a fast start this year, but has since come back down to Earth. It would certainly be an intriguing match between two non-traditional powers in top conferences.

Syracuse moved closer to bowl eligibility after beating the previously unbeaten Louisville Cardinals. The Orange are slated to play in the Pinstripe Bowl against the Iowa State Cyclones at Yankee Stadium.

In the main event, it's expected that if the teams remain undefeated, the Kansas State Wildcats and Oregon Ducks will meet in the National Championship game.
