With Alabama losing for the first time, Oregon assumes the top spot in the latest USA Today Coaches' Poll, followed by fellow undefeated teams Kansas St. and Notre Dame. Rutgers remained in the rankings after improving to 8-1.
For the first time in weeks, there is a change atop the USA Today Coaches' Poll. The Oregon Ducks are the nation's new No. 1 team after receiving 44 of 59 first place votes. Oregon's rise corresponded with the Alabama Crimson Tide losing their first game of the season, 29-24 to the Texas A&M Aggies, and falling to No. 5 in the newest poll.
The No. 2 Kansas St. Wildcats, No. 3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish and No. 4 Georgia Bulldogs fill out the top 5. The second-ranked Wildcats received 14 first place votes, while the other remaining undefeated team, Notre Dame, received one.
After knocking off the nation's previous No. 1 team, Texas A&M moved up four spots to No. 10 in the newest poll.
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights remained No. 20 after improving to 8-1 on the season with a 28-7 victory over Army.The Syracuse Orange did not move into the poll, but made an impact on the rankings with a 45-26 win over the Louisville Cardinals who subsequently fell eight spots down to No. 18.
