Justin Tuck: New York Giants Defensive End Discusses Osi Umenyiora, Dangers Of Football

New York Giants defensive end Justin Tuck appeared on the Michael Kay Show on ESPN Radio New York earlier this week. Tuck discussed disgruntled teammate Osi Umenyiora, the dangers of playing football and more.

Any concerns about Osi Umenyiora coming back to the Giants?

"Yeah definitely. A lot of concerns because Osi is such a dominant player and he definitely brings a different dimension to our defense and our defensive line. He is definitely someone we would like to have ... "

Do you agree with what Jay Cutler said? He claims he signed up to play football and understands the risks and that players shouldn’t be able to sue the NFL?

"For the most part yes I do agree. I say this and everybody I talked to football isn’t an easy game. Everybody that plays football understands that it is a dangerous game. We’ve seen it. We’ve seen guys tear ACLs. We’ve seen guys tear Achilles. We’ve seen guys tear up their shoulders. We’ve seen guys have concussions. You know if you play this game long enough you put yourself more at risk to have those types of injuries. I don’t see why guys jump on bandwagons to sue the NFL for things they put themselves through willingly ..."

MLB All-Star Game 2013 Location: Mets To Host At Citi Field

Major League Baseball officially announced Wednesday that the 2013 MLB All-Star Game will be held at Citi Field.

Citi Field has never hosted the All-Star Game before, and the Mets have not hosted the game since 1964, Shea Stadium's inaugural season.

Commissioner Bud Selig was on hand with Mets owner Fred Wilpon and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to make the announcement at City Hall on Wednesday.

"The whole New York area, I think, will be very pleased," said Selig. "This is really a five-day celebration of our great sport."

Wilpon called it a "great event for New York" before quipping about his biggest regret in the process.

"If I knew how easy this was, I would have asked the mayor and commissioner if (they) could have arranged for us to have the World Series this year," he said. "But I don't think that would be possible."

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning was a guest this morning on CNN's 'Starting Point.' With the Giants receiving their Super Bowl XLVI championship rings Wednesday night Manning said there are definite rules regarding when he will -- and won't -- wear the ring, his second.

"I wear it on special occasions up to the start of the season and then put it away. New year, new season. Let's try to go get another one. I won't wear it on an every-day basis," Manning said. "If I'll see friends or my family and they haven't seen it, wear it and just kind of casually walk in and that's the first thing they see. They like to look at it. It's a big ring. It's almost hard to wear."

Manning also talked about pranks, his brother Peyton, the Jets quarterback situations with Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow, and his appearance as host of 'Saturday Night Live.' Video after the jump.

Unintentionally, New York Rangers coach John Tortorella hosts what might be the most entertaining press conferences of any coach currently in professional sports. His one-word answers and biting, dismissive reactions to many of the questions he gets are becoming legendary.

New York Giants Super Bowl Rings -- Weatherford Offers Glimpse

The New York Giants get their 2012 Super Bowl rings Wednesday evening in a ceremony at Tiffany & Co. in Manhattan. Punter Steve Weatherford apparently could not wait to share a look at the ring, tweeting a photo of the design on Tuesday. He added "She sure is pretty."

The Giants have had trouble keeping the ring design a secret. Clint Sintim, who spent the season on injured reserve, posted a photo on Twitter a few week ago. One that was quickly removed, incidentally.

The Giants, of course, defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI to earn the fourth Super Bowl title in franchise history and the second of the Tom Coughlin-Eli Manning era. The four titles are represented on the ring by four Lombardi trophies.

The ring ceremony is not open to the public.

Joe Namath Says Mark Sanchez Better Than Tim Tebow: 'There's No Doubt'

Joe Namath has been openly critical of the New York Jets' trade for Tim Tebow in late March. At the time, he called the move a "publicity stunt." Namath spoke up again Tuesday at the United Way Gridiron Gala in Manhattan, emphasizing that he thinks Mark Sanchez is clearly the better quarterback.

"There's no doubt about it, at this point certainly," Namath said. "And Mark's going to get better. He's only going into his fourth year. Golly, I remember a team that won a championship with a quarterback in his fourth year. I hope that happens again."

Namath also criticized the Wildcat offense, saying, "only four teams have used (the Wildcat) in professional football, and they were all because they didn't have a quarterback." The comments come after Jets quarterbacks coach Matt Cavanaugh recently heaped praise on Tebow for his mechanics and work ethic.

Matt Bahr Kicked 1990 NFC Championship Game-Winning Field Goal With Concussion

Matt Bahr helped the New York Giants edge out the San Francisco 49ers during the 1990 NFC Championship Game, 15-13, with a 42-yard field goal as time expired. Former Giants tight end Mark Bavaro revealed Tuesday that Bahr likely had a concussion when he made the kick that sent the team to Super Bowl XXV.

"Matt Bahr, when he kicked the winning field goal against San Francisco in 1990, I don't think he knew where he was," Bavaro said. "He'd tackled somebody on a kickoff return earlier in the game and he was kind of out of it. [Giants long snapper] Steve DeOssie had to kind of, actually, guide him on the field and line it up. But you know, that was regular stuff back then. Matt was a great guy, a tough guy, and we certainly appreciated him coming out and doing that for us. But I don't think that stuff happens today."

It is shocking that Bahr was allowed back on the field considering today's stringent concussion protocols. It is even scarier to imagine what might have happened if Bahr was forced to remain on the sideline. A great moment in Giants history may have never existed.

Devils Launch 'No Blue' Campaign To Keep Rangers Fans From Getting Eastern Conference Finals Tickets

The New Jersey Devils launched a short-lived "No Blue" campaign to keep New York Rangers fans out of the Prudential Center during the teams' NHL Eastern Conference Finals series. The page for the No Blue campaign on the Devils website is no longer working.

In general, the idea behind the campaign was to keep Rangers fans out by denying them tickets. The Devils' website described three ways to accomplish this:

1. If you own seats and have to sell for any of the home games because of conflicts, do NOT list your seats on the secondary market. Blogs such as Fire and Ice, In Lou We Trust, and HFBoards provide you with outlets to speak directly with other Devils fans who are looking for seats. This will ensure you are selling ONLY to other Devils fans. You can ask for pictures or meet them to deliver tickets, to ensure where their loyalty lies

2. If you are unsure about conversing on Devils blogs to sell your tickets, you can call the Devils Fan Experience Team line at 855-DEV-ARMY, and as a service they will help you sell your seats you can't use, to other Devils fans.

3. If you do not own seats already, visit secondary market ticket sales websites including Ticket Exchange to purchase your tickets immediately. Thousands of seats still remain for both Rangers home games at The Garden. Therefore, there is a window right NOW, for Devils fans to swallow up all the remaining tickets for the upcoming Devils home games at the Rock. Seize that opportunity now while it is still available.

The No Blue campaign sparked the #noblue hashtag on Twitter which Rangers fans mocked with the hashtag #beyondpitiful.
