Kosuke Fukudome Signing: Yankees Sign Outfielder To Minor League Contract

The New York Yankees signed free agent outfielder Kosuke Fukudome to a minor-league contract on Friday. He is expected to report to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this weekend. (via Marc Carig).

Fukudome has played for the Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians and the Chicago White Sox during his MLB career. Fukudome was with the White Sox this season before being released on June 26. The 35-year-old outfielder was hitting .171 with four RBI and eight walks for the White Sox before his release. For his career, Fukudome is a .258 hitter with 42 homers, 195 RBI and 307 walks.

His professional career started in Japan in 1999 with the Chunichi Dragons where he played until he joined the Cubs in 2008. Fukudome was the MVP of the Central League in 2006.
