Joba Chamberlain Injury Update: Yankees Pitcher Says He Will Throw In Bullpen

New York Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain tweeted Thursday that he is all set to begin throwing in the bullpen after dislocating his ankle in an ugly trampoline accident in late March. He has been throwing off a half-height mound as part of his recovery.

There is still one problem, however: Yankees manager Joe Girardi is apparently unaware of Chamberlain's progress. When asked about Chamberlain's plans to throw off a mound, Girardi responded, "that, I'm not aware of."

Chamberlain is training at the Yankees' minor-league complex in Tampa, Fla., and Girardi is busy overseeing his team, so the disconnect makes some sense. Taking Chamberlain at his word, it appears his recovery is going well.
