David Robertson Injury Update: Yankees Place Reliever On Disabled List

David Robertson, the New York Yankees choice to replace the injured Mariano Rivera as the team's closer, has now joined Rivera on the disabled list. The Yankees today placed Robertson on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique.

That means that veteran Rafael Soriano, who earned his second save of the season Monday night against the Baltimore Orioles, will now close games for the Yankees -- at least for now. What happens when Robertson returns is anybody's guess.

Robertson is 0-1 with a 2.51 ERA this season. He has one save, and a blown save in his second opportunity. Robertson made the American League All-Star Team last season while setting up for Rivera, compiling a 1.08 ERA in 70 appearances.

Soriano saved an American League-leading 45 games for the Tampa Bay Rays in 2010 and has 92 career saves.

The Yankees recalled reliever Cody Eppley to take Robertson's spot on the roster.
