Yankees Vs. Mariners Final Score: Andy Pettitte Gives Up Two Homers In 6-2 Loss

Andy Pettitte was pretty good in his first start for the New York Yankees since 2010, but not good enough to earn a victory Sunday against the Seattle Mariners.

Pettitte surrendered four runs in 6.1 innings as the Yankees lost to the Mariners, 6-2, at Yankee Stadium. Despite the loss, the Yankees still won the series, 2-1.

Pettitte only struck out two batters and walked three during his first MLB outing in more a year. Pettitte, 39, retired after the 2010 season, but decided to make a comeback this spring.

Both of the Yankees' runs came on walks, one in the fifth inning, one in the eighth inning. Kevin Millwood went seven innings in the win for Seattle. He walked four batters and struck out six. After the Yankees cut the Mariners' lead in half in the eighth inning, an infield single and a throwing error gave Seattle two insurance runs in the ninth.

The Yankees left six runners on base and were 0-5 with runners in scoring position on Sunday. The Mariners also left six men on base but were 3-9 with runners in scoring position.

The Yankees' next series begins on Monday against the Orioles in Baltimore at 7:05 p.m.
