Yankees-Tigers Score: Yankees Take Series, Beat Tigers 6-2

CC Sabathia ppitched eight strong innings while the New York Yankees offense did its part, leading to a 6-2 victory at Yankee Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Combined with their 7-6 victory from Friday, the Yankees take the three-game series from the Tigers two games to one.

Sabathia gave up four hits over his eight innings, one a solo home run to Prince Fielder and another an RBI double to Miguel Cabrera. Those were the only two runs the Tigers would get, as David Robertson took the hill in the ninth and put the Tigers down 1-2-3 with two strikeouts.

The Yankees first scored in the bottom of the second, when Detroit's Max Scherzer walked in a run. Alex Rodriguez followed that with an infield single, scoring another run. Curtis Granderson hit his eighth home run of the year, a solo shot in the fourth. The seventh added a pair of runs, with A-Rod picking up another RBI on a fielder's choice and Robinson Cano picking one up with a sacrifice fly. Andruw Jones, who had entered the game to run for Nick Swisher in the third, added the final run with a solo home run in the eigth.

The 6-2 victory brought the Yankees to 12-9 for the season. They next host Baltimore for three games, where they'll look to equal their form from their earlier series versus the Orioles, a three game sweep.
