Yankees Vs. Rangers Final Score: Phil Hughes Pulled In 3rd Inning As Texas Wins 7-3

Phil Hughes lasted just 2.2 innings on the mound, as the New York Yankees lost 7-3 to the Texas Rangers to close out their three-game series on the road with consecutive losses. Hughes gave up five hits, including a home run, and four earned runs before being replaced by Clay Rapada.

Hughes hit two batters and gave up a monster home run to Adrian Beltre in the second inning before getting the hook in the third. Rapada got the last out in the inning and the Yankees put in David Phelps to start the fourth. He promptly gave up the Rangers' final three runs in 2.1 innings on the mound, including one-run homers to Mike Napoli in the fourth and Mitch Moreland in the sixth. Phelps was pulled after Beltre's third hit of the game, a single to score Ian Kinsler.

Derek Jeter went 2-for-4 from the plate to extend his hitting streak to 15 games. Unfortunately, his teammates couldn't take him around home plate. Alex Rodriguez went 0-for-4 for the second straight night, and is now hitting just .221 for the season. The Yankees peppered Scott Feldman with six hits and two earned runs in his 3.1 innings on the mound, but managed just one more hit, a Raul Ibanez homer in the seventh inning off Neftali Feliz, the rest of the way.
