Yankees Vs. Rangers Final Score: Derek Jeter Goes 4-For-5 At The Plate In 7-4 New York Win

The New York Rangers won 7-4 on Monday night in Game 1 of their three-game series against the Texas Rangers. Derek Jeter went 4-for-5 at the plate to extend his hitting streak to 13 games. He batted in one run, and ran in two more to help the Yankees stymie a Rangers squad that had won nine of its last 10 games.

CC Sabathia pitched eight innings to earn his second win of the season. He held the Rangers to just one run through five innings, though he couldn't keep one of the best lineups in baseball down forever. Josh Hamilton hit a home run in the sixth inning, and Craig Gentry hit a two-run double in the seventh to bring Rangers within three runs.

Derek Holland got the loss after giving up seven earned runs in six innings of work. Alex Rodriguez hit his 632nd career home run in the fifth inning, scoring Jeter and Robinson Cano to provide the winnings runs. Curtis Granderson put the Yankees on the board with a two-run single to second in the first inning. Nick Swisher hit a sac fly in the fifth to score Chris Stewart.
