David Robertson Injury Update: New York Yankees Relieved After Bone Bruise Diagnosis

The New York Yankees and relief pitcher David Robertson can breathe a sigh of relief.

Initial tests on Robertson's injured right foot revealed "some cause for concern," according to manager Joe Girardi, but the injury has been diagnosed as nothing more than a bone bruise. After wearing a bone boot through Monday, Robertson will begin working his way back to the mound, according to the YES network's Jack Curry.

"It's a huge relief," Girardi said after the latest news Friday, according to Bryan Hoch's Twitter account. "Obviously this is good news."

Losing Robertson for any prolonged period of time would hurt the Yankees. The 26-year old setup man had a 1.08 ERA during the 2011 seaso, pitching 100 strikeouts in 66.2 innings while making the American League All-Star team for the first time.
