Raul Ibanez pinch hit for Alex Rodriguez in the ninth inning and hit a game-tying home run to propel the New York Yankees into a 2-2 tie with the Baltimore Orioles in Game 3 of the American League Division Series.
With one out in the bottom of he ninth, Ibanez was able to take Jim Johnson deep to right field after being called upon by manager Joe Girardi.
The veteran was given an inside fastball and turned on the pitch without hesitation. Ibanez has been one of the key contributors all season for New York, hammering 19 homers and racking up 62 RBI in the regular season.
The Bronx Bombers looked all but out of it before Rodriguez was lifted for Ibanez. In the game, Rodriguez was struggling once again. The future Hall-of-Famer struck out twice in three at-bats, further drawing the ire of Yankees fans.
