YES network is reporting that the New York Yankees and General Manager Brian Cashman have reached a three year extension. This is on the heels of both Joel Sherman and Jon Heyman tweeting that the two sides have come to an agreement. The Yankees are expected to make an announcement following game seven of the World Series.
Brian Cashman has been in charge of baseball operations for the Yankees since 1998, the same year that they won 114 games and a World Series. He has been an integral part in building the Yankees' line up and bringing in stars such as Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixiera. Now that Cashman is locked in for an additional three years, the team will now focus on retaining starting pitcher C.C. Sabathia before he can opt out of his current deal and become a free agent next Wednesday. Sabathia is the highest priority for the Yankees this upcoming off season.

New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman told MLB.com he expects a new contract by Oct. 31, when his current contract expires.
"It'll get done between now and Oct. 31st, I'm sure," Cashman said. "I can't promise, but I think that's what everybody expects. I know it's something that everybody has to follow. But that's not a pressing circumstance, as far as something I'm worried about right now."
Cashman has no plans to visit Hal Steinbrenner in Tampa, Fla., but he doesn't feel that a flight is necessary for a new contract to be completed.
"I'm sure it could get done over the phone, from my perspective," said Cashman, who is completing a three-year, $6 million agreement with the club. "I don't want to speak for him."
For now, Cashman is focused on running the Yankees. He is meeting in New York this week with Yankees scouts to help determine New York's offseason intentions.
Cashman also expects to contact the representatives of star pitcher CC Sabathia before the World Series ends. Sabathia, who finished last season 19-8 with a 3.00 ERA, can choose to opt out of the last four years of his seven-year, $161 million contract. .
