The New York Red Bulls are tied with D.C. United for the top spot in the Eastern Conference of the MLS following Sunday's hard-fought 3-2 victory over United at a raucous, sold-out Red Bull Arena.
D.C. United is 9-3-5 for 30 points, while the Red Bulls (9-3-4) have compiled 30 points in one fewer game than D.C. Technically, the Red Bulls are second in the Eastern Conference table as D.C. United has a larger goal differential (+9) to +7 for New York.
Sporting KC is third in the East with 29 points off a 9-2-4 record.
In the Western Conference, San Jose (10-3-3, 33 points) is atop the table. Real Salt Lake 10-2-5, 32 points) is second.
The Red Bulls return to action Saturday at BMO Field against Toronto FC (1-2-10, 5 points). Toronto is last in the Eastern Conference.
