The Chicago Fire beat the New York Red Bulls 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at Red Bull Arena.

In what could prove to be a playoff preview in the Eastern Conference, the Fire was able to pull out the victory thanks to a pair of goals by forward Sherjill MacDonald. The star of the night scored in the 65th and 78th minutes to propel Chicago into the win column.

New York took nine shots, but was only able to get one on frame throughout the affair. The Red Bulls had their chances, controlling the ball for 57 percent of the time but failing to connect on the big play.

The match was a bit chippy, with three yellow cards being handed out. New York was guilty of two with forward Thierry Henry and defenseman Wilman Conde being whistled.

Chicago only put four shots on frame, but beat Red Bulls goaltender Luis Robles half the time.
