Red Bulls 5, Toronto FC 0: Dominant Victory Puts Red Bulls In First Place

The New York Red Bulls regained first place in the Eastern Conference with a 5-0 victory over Toronto FC at Red Bull Arena Wednesday night. Thierry Henry’s league-leading ninth goal of the season sent the Red Bulls on their way, while Juan Agudelo scored two goals and reigning MLS Player of the Week Joel Lindpere added a goal and two assists.

With the win, the Red Bulls, who returned to Red Bull Arena Wednesday after a four-game road trip, moved back to first place in the Eastern Conference with 28 points and a 6-3-10 record, giving them a one-point lead over the idle Philadelphia Union. The Red Bulls’ five goals on the night were the most they have scored in a match since defeating Toronto FC by an identical score on Oct. 24, 2009 at Giants Stadium.

Strikers Henry and Rodgers rekindled their deadly partnership as both players got on the score sheet in the opening half. Lindpere and Agudelo topped off the resounding New York victory with tallies of their own in the second half.
