Report: Rangers' Buyout Of Chris Drury Official Today

The New York Post is reporting that the New York Rangersbuyout of captain Chris Drury will become official today.

Drury, 34, has been a Ranger for four seasons and team captain for the last three. He recorded only five points in 24 games during the 2010-2011 season.

In the 2007-2008 season Drury had 58 points on 25 goals and 33 assists. He followed that with 22 goals and 34 assists for 56 points in 2008-2009.

Drury has 615 points in his 12-year career. He issued a statement via the Post. Here is part of it:

“It was a great honor and privilege to be a New York Ranger for the past four years, and I will always be grateful for the opportunity to fulfill that childhood dream,” Drury said in a statement that was sent to The Post by e-mail. “The Rangers are a first-class organization with great people in the hockey, public relations, team services and community relations departments.”
