Left winger Carl Hagelin netted a pair of goals Saturday to propel the visiting New York Rangers past the Buffalo Sabres, 4-1, in a Eastern Conference contest at the First Niagara Center. Captain Ryan Callahan netted the game-winning goal in the second period and New York goaltender Martin Biron saved 32-of-33 shots, as the Rangers (16-6-4) snapped a two-game losing streak. The Sabres (15-12-2) dropped to third place in the Northeastern Division standings.

After a scoreless first period, Hagelin netted the game's first goal, his second of the year, 8:26 seconds into the second period and helped New York earn a 1-0 advantage. Just over minute later, Buffalo's Thomas Vanek answered with his 14th goal of the season, but Callahan's goal gave the Rangers the lead for good.

Hagelin and Marian Gaborik both scored goals in the third period for New York. Buffalo goaltender Jhonas Enroth allowed four goals on 33 shots.
