Nationals Vs. Mets: Washington Sweeps Series With 2-0 Win

Stay connected for news and updates

The Washington Nationals finished off the sweep of the New York Mets on Wednesday night at Citi Field, winning 2-0.

The Mets couldn't generate any threats throughout the game, something that has become a common theme at home. Their only players with multi-hit nights were David Wright, Lucas Duda and Andres Torres who each collected two apiece. All told, New York could only manage eight hits, all singles.

Matt Harvey pitched pretty well, going just five innings but whiffing 10 Nats in the process. The only true blemish on Harvey's evening was a solo home run by Ryan Zimmerman to lead off the fourth inning.

The Nationals got an excellent outing from John Lannan who's filling in for Stephen Strasburg, now that the phenom has been shut down for the remainder of the season.

Lannan threw five and two-thirds innings without yielding a run on five hits and a walk while striking out two.
