Dillon Gee Injury: Pitcher Cleared To Begin Throwing

New York Mets starting pitcher Dillon Gee got some good news Sunday. After undergoing surgery six weeks ago to repair a damaged artery in his throwing shoulder, Gee has been cleared to throw again, according to ESPN New York's Adam Rubin.

Rubin spoke with Gee over the phone, and the pitcher said he underwent an angiogram in St. Louis that showed he was fully healed. With nothing left to play for, however, don't expect to see him back on the mound before 2013, Mets fans.

"I don't foresee a return this year, but I'm not trying to put a timetable on anything," Gee told Rubin. "I just want to begin throwing and see how I progress from there."

The Mets, despite Ike Davis's heroics during Sunday's thrilling victory, are out of the playoffs, sitting on a record of 59-69. They'll be happy to have one of their better arms back in the rotation in 2013.
