The New York Mets trounced the Los Angeles Dodgers Friday night, behind another stellar performance from R.A. Dickey. Dickey threw 116 pitches over eight innings, 81 of them for strikes. He struck out ten and walked only one while giving up no runs and just three hits. Dickey bounced back from his recent performance against the New York Yankees, where he gave up five runs in six innings. He improves to 12-1, the first pitcher in the majors to reach 12 wins, and has an ERA of 2.15.
The Mets offense was led by Daniel Murphy. The second baseman went 2-for-5 with five RBI, two on a double in the fifth and three on a home run in the seventh. Ruben Tejada went 4-for 5 with an RBI. David Wright, Ike Davis, Lucas Duda and Kirk Nieuwenhuis also had RBI for New York.
With the win the Mets have taken the first two games of the four game series. Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday at 7:15 p.m. ET.
