Mets Vs. Dodgers Final Score: New York Loses Error-Filled Series Finale, 8-3

The New York Mets lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers, 8-3, in an error-filled series finale at Dodger Stadium on Sunday night. The two teams combined for five errors. The Mets committed three on their way to blowing a 3-1 lead beginning in the fifth inning.

Dillon Gee (5-7) gave up four runs while on the mound, but only two earned. Juan Uribe scored on an error by Justin Turner at first base to make the score 3-2, Mets. A.J. Ellis tied the game on the next at-bat with a sac fly to score Tony Gwynn. The Dodgers, riding a seven-game losing streak into the game, took their first lead in 66 innings on a James Loney ground out to second, scoring Juan Rivera.

Gee gave up five hits and two walks, and struck out four before leaving the mound after six innings.

Up 4-3 in the seventh inning, the Dodgers added two more runs on what should have been a 1-2-3 inning-ending double play. With the bases loaded, Rivera grounded to Miguel Batista, who threw to Mike Nickeas to try to force the out at home plate. Nickeas was credited with a catching error, as Ellis and Dee Gordon scored, and Bobby Abreu advanced to third.

The Dodger took an 8-3 lead on their next two at-bats. Adam Kennedy scored Abreu on a sac fly, and Rivera scored off a Loney double.

Not that the Dodgers didn't give away runs themselves. After taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning off a Scott Hairston single, the Mets built a 3-1 lead off consecutive errors by the Dodgers in the third. David Wright grounded to second, forcing Tejada out. Gordon missed the throw for the double play, however, scoring Gee and advancing Wright to second. Gordon committed another throwing error on the next at-bat trying to throw Hairston out at first, scoring Wright.

Clayton Kershaw (6-4) got the win after giving up three runs, one earned, in seven innings. He gave up five hits and three walks while striking out nine.

Mets Vs. Dodgers Final Score: New York Defeats Los Angeles 5-0

The New York Mets won their fourth straight game on Saturday night, defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers by a final score of 5-0.

Second baseman Daniel Murphy got the Mets on the board in the top of the second inning with a sacrifice fly that scored first baseman Ike Davis. Three innings later, New York struck again, this time off a sacrifice fly by catcher Jim Thole that sent Daniel Murphy home. In the sixth, Ike Davis blasted a three-run homer to extend New York’s lead to 5-0. It was Davis’s 11th home run on the season and his 45th RBI.

Starting pitcher Johan Santana was credited with the victory after throwing a three-hitter over eight innings of work. He struck out three and picked up his sixth win (6-4 overall). Dodgers starting pitcher Nate Eovaldi was given the loss after pitching 5.1 innings and allowing all five of New York’s runs.

The win improves New York to 43-36, while the Dodgers loss gives them the same record as the Mets. The Mets will go for the series sweep over Los Angeles on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.

Mets Vs. Dodgers Final Score: New York Wins 9-0 Behind Another Gem From R.A. Dickey

The New York Mets trounced the Los Angeles Dodgers Friday night, behind another stellar performance from R.A. Dickey. Dickey threw 116 pitches over eight innings, 81 of them for strikes. He struck out ten and walked only one while giving up no runs and just three hits. Dickey bounced back from his recent performance against the New York Yankees, where he gave up five runs in six innings. He improves to 12-1, the first pitcher in the majors to reach 12 wins, and has an ERA of 2.15.

The Mets offense was led by Daniel Murphy. The second baseman went 2-for-5 with five RBI, two on a double in the fifth and three on a home run in the seventh. Ruben Tejada went 4-for 5 with an RBI. David Wright, Ike Davis, Lucas Duda and Kirk Nieuwenhuis also had RBI for New York.

Mets (41-36) At Dodgers (43-34) Preview: Game Time, TV Schedule, Probable Pitchers

R.A. Dickey returns to the mound Friday night as the New York Mets visit the Los Angeles Dodgers in search of their third straight win. (Game Time: 10:10 p.m. ET, TV Schedule: SNY)

Dickey hasn't lost since April 18, going 9-0 with a 1.64 ERA during his 12 starts since then. The knuckleballer had a 44 2/3-inning scoreless streak snapped in his last start, a no-decision, surrendering five runs to the New York Yankees.

Mets-Dodgers Final Score: David Wright's Two-RBI Night Leads Mets To 3-2 Win

It takes contributions from more than one player to be successful during a baseball season, but without David Wright, the New York Mets are cellar-dwellers. Thursday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the third baseman continued to pad his MVP resume, going 2-for-3 with a home run and an RBI double in the Mets' 3-2 victory at Dodger Stadium.

New York has been erratic lately -- reaching the heights of its season with sweeps, then getting swept itself in the next series. After a four-game losing streak ended with a 17-1 rout of the Cubs on Wednesday, it would've been easy to peg Thursday's game as one the Mets would let down in.

Not if Wright had anything to say about it.

The third baseman doubled home a run in the first inning to get New York on the board right off the bat, as it faced an old teammate, Chris Capuano, who has had a tremendous season across the country.Three innings later, Wright blasted his ninth long ball of the season -- equaling Howard Johnson for third all-time in franchise history with 192 -- for a two-run cushion. Entering the game, Fangraphs' wins-above replacement metric had Wright valued at a 4.4, the second-best rate in baseball and just over three times the amount of the Mets' second-ranked hitter, Kirk Nieuwenhuis. He's simply been unbelievable this season, with a .361/.453/.575 line.

Wright needed a little help from his friends, though, in the second half of the fourth after the Dodgers knotted the game up. Credit to the Mets for rebounding right back in the top of the fifth, as Andres Torres doubled home Mike Nickeaus for the go-ahead run.

Chris Young pitched another solid game on the mound, lasting 6 1/3 innings, giving up two runs on six hits while striking out five. The key to locking down the win was the bullpen, in which three guys combined for 2 2/3 near-flawless pitching, giving up a hit and a walk. Bobby Parnell closed the game out for his first save of the season with Frank Francisco on the disabled list.

The win vaulted the Mets into a tie with the Braves for second place, 3 1/2 back, in the NL East. The Dodgers have now lost five games in a row and nine of their last 10.
