Mets Vs. Orioles Final Score: Dillon Gee Pitches Mets To 4-3 Win

The New York Mets beat the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night by a final score of 4-3 for their third consecutive win and a series sweep. A win that keeps them in second place behind Washington in the National League East.

Starter Dillon Gee worked deep into the game to keep some pressure off the bullpen. The right-hander started the seventh inning without having allowed a run. Wilson Betemit ended Gee's night with a two-run homer to right field. The win puts Gee at an even 5-5 record and drops his ERA to 4.27.

The Mets took a 1-0 lead into the fifth inning when they chased Brian Matusz by adding another two in the fifth. David Wright hit a ground rule double off Luis Ayala in the sixth to make it 4-2.

Closer Frank Francisco gave fans at Citi Field heart palpitations when he walked pinch hitter Steve Pearce to give the Orioles a third run with two outs. He got Brian Roberts, the next hitter, to ground out to end the inning.

This was the third win in a row for the Mets who have been stuck on some strange association with the number three. These three wins follow three straight losses, which followed three straight wins, which followed three straight losses. That last set of three losses came against the New York Yankees.
