Mets Vs. Diamondbacks Final Score: R.A. Dickey's Knuckleball Shuts Down D-Backs In 3-1 Win

The New York Mets defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks, 3-1, on Sunday at Citi Field. With the win, the Mets won the three-game series, 2-1.

Mets knuckleballer R.A. Dickey went eight innings in the win and frustrated Arizona hitters who didn't put their only run across against him until the ninth inning. After Dickey faced two hitters in the ninth, Tim Byrdak got the first out of the inning and a hold. Frank Francisco then entered the game, got the last two outs and picked up his seventh save of the year. Trevor Cahill took the loss for the Diamondbacks after giving up three earned runs in seven innings.

New York didn't light up the scoreboard but were still efficient going 2-3 with runners in scoring position and only leaving two men on base during the game. The Mets scored two runs in the first inning on a Daniel Murphy single. New York got their other run in the fourth inning on a Josh Thole single.

Ruben Tejada exited the game for the Mets in the fourth inning with a right quad strain after trying to leg out a bunt. He face planted on first base during the play. He had been 2-2 on the day. He will need an MRI on his leg but the Mets manager Terry Collins is concerned about Tejada's eye (via Adam Rubin's Twitter).

The Mets improved to 10-6 at home this season. They will travel to Philadelphia next to take on the Phillies starting May 7.
