Mets Roster Moves: Justin Turner To DL, Manny Acosta Likely To Be Released

Stay connected for news and updates

Monday afternoon’s 8-4 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies appears likely to be followed by several New York Mets roster moves.

Justin Turner left Monday’s game with an ankle injury, and will be headed to the disabled list, according to a published report. When Turner left Monday’s game third baseman David Wright was forced to play shortstop. The team will recall infielder Omar Quintanilla from Triple-A Buffalo to start at shortstop Tuesday. Quintanilla has major league experience with the Rockies and Rangers, but the Mets will have to remove someone from the 40-man roster.

The player removed could be Manny Acosta, who surrendered three runs Monday and now has an 11.86 ERA. The Mets also announced that pitcher Chris Schwinden will be recalled on Tuesday. That means a pitcher — seemingly Acosta — will be removed from the 25-man roster.
