Mets (18-13) At Marlins (16-15): Series Preview, TV Schedule, Probable Pitchers

The New York Mets take their five-game winning streak to South Beach this weekend where they will face the Miami Marlins in a three-game series. In the Marlins, the Mets are facing another hot team, with Miami haven't won eight of their last nine.

Terry Collins and his banged up team are still riding the high of a huge sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies. That series was full of drama as the Mets needed to come from behind in each game. The cardiac kids will be put to the test against a Marlins squad that have turned things around after a disastrous 8-14 start to the season.

The last time these two teams met, it was back on April 24 and Jose Reyes was making his first appearance in front of the Mets fans as a member of the Marlins. The shortstop didn't react well during the three-game sweep as he flopped with an ugly 1 for 12 in the series.

In the series opener Johan Santana will take the ball for New York against fellow-lefty Mark Buehrle. Santana faced the Marlins in the first game of the last series between these squads and struck out 11 over 6.2 innings but was unable to earn a decision.

Buehrle was a tough-luck loser back on April 25 against the Mets, giving up just two runs over five innings of work. An unstable Miami bullpen and silent lineup left him with the third loss of the season. He has since split games against the Diamondbacks and Padres, bringing his record to 2-4 on the season.
