Mets-Giants Score: Giants Defeat Mets 4-3 In 10 Innings

The San Francisco Giants lost a 3-2 lead late in Friday night's game, but they were able to come back in the top of the 10th and beat the New York Mets 4-3. The Giants scored first in the game, with Angel Pagan hitting a solo home run to deep center field in the top of the third inning. Things continued to build for the Giants in the inning, as Miguel Cabrera and Pablo Sandoval got on base, Buster Posey hit an RBI double, and Sandoval scored on a wild pitch.

The Mets answered with a pair of solo homers, one in the fourth inning from Jason Bay and one in the fifth inning from Kirk Nieuwenhuis, a replacement center fielder. The Giants managed to hold their 3-2 lead until the bottom of the ninth, when Javy Lopez blew the save opportunity for the Giants, giving up an RBI single to Josh Thole. Sergio Romo entered the game and secured the last two outs in the ninth.

The Giants managed a two out rally in the top of the 10th, after Miguel Cabrera walked, stole second, and then scored on a Hector Sanchez base hit off Frank Francisco. Sergio Romo came back out for the bottom of the 10th but did not last long, getting pulled after giving up a pair of base hits and recording zero outs. Clay Hensley entered the game and got Ike Davis to ground out, struck out Jason Bay, then gave up a long fly ball to Lucas Duda, giving some Giants fans a heart attack but securing the win.

The Giants improved to 7-6, while the Mets fell to 7-5. This was the first game in a three-game series, and the teams will see each other again on Saturday and Sunday.
