The New York Mets have announced that they will interview four candidates this week for what is expected to be the final round before a new manager is selected.
Today the Mets will interview Bob Melvin, the former manager of the Seattle Mariners and Arizona Diamondbacks, as well as Chip Hale, who served as the team’s third base coach this past season.
Tomorrow, they’ll interview Class-A manager Wally Backman and Terry Collins – the team’s farm director.
The interviews will be conducted with Mets brass consisting of COO Jeff Wilpon, new general manager Sandy Alderson, Paul DePodesta, J.P. Ricciardi and John Ricco.
These final four were pared down from a group of 11 original candidates.
