Jeremy Lin Free Agency Rumors: Knicks To Match Rockets Offer Sheet, According To Report

The New York Knicks are set to match the four-year, 28.8 million dollar offer sheet Jeremy Lin will sign with the Houston Rockets, according to a report from the New York Post's Marc Berman.

Most assumed that the Knicks would match any offer sheet for Lin after missing out on Steve Nash, an a source from Berman's report confirmed those suspicions:

"He's their guy," one NBA official debriefed on the Knicks' strategy said. "They'll match."

The Knicks officially will be presented the offer sheet Wednesday, the day the NBA's free-agency moratorium ends, and will have three days to match it. It should take them three minutes.

While the backloaded deal will push the Knicks further into the luxury cap in the third year of the contract, having a player as marketable as Lin will be able to help offset those costs. Not to mention having the point guard position under contract with Lin and Jason Kidd for the next three years.
