Jeremy Lin Injury Update: Knicks Point Guard Now Expected To Miss Entire Heat Series

With Baron Davis out, the New York Knicks will need someone to step into the point guard position. But it won't be Jeremy Lin.

Coach Mike Woodson told reporters Tuesday that Lin will not return to the series even if it goes the complete seven games because he still isn't healthy enough to play.

"He's not ready," Woodson said, as quoted by Howard Beck of the New York Times.

Lin, who fathered the Linsanity craze that swept the basketball world earlier this season, has been out since late March after surgery to repair a torn meniscus.

The Knicks' point guard position has become an injury ward, with Mike Bibby and Toney Douglas the lone lead guards standing. In addition to Lin, Iman Shumpert tore his ACL and Baron Davis tore several ligaments and tendons.

Woodson could turn to Bibby or Douglas, neither of whom he particularly trusts, in Game 5 or he could turn to makeshift lineups with Landry Fields or Carmelo Anthony handling the ball-handling responsibilities.

This apparently renders our 'Should Lin Play in Game 5?' poll meaningless.
