The New York Knicks extended their season Sunday afternoon with a heart-stopping 89-87 victory over the Miami Heat in Game Four of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. The Knicks earned their first playoff victory since 2001 and snapped an NBA-record 13-game playoff losing streak.

Carmelo Anthony poured in 41 points to lead the charge while Amare Stoudemire played with basically one hand and still recorded a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Stoudemire feels this could be the start of something good, according to ESPN.com:

"I think it's the first of many," said Stoudemire, his left arm back in a sling to keep his hand elevated. "Tonight was a great win for us, for our fans to finally get over that hump of those consecutive games that we lost, I guess the Knicks, lost over those years in the playoffs."

New York is obviously up against it, down 3-1 in a series headed back to Miami. However, the Knicks can only take it one game at a time.

Head coach Mike Woodson is unquestionably feeling some relief after getting a win under his belt.

"It’s about time. This team is good enough to win [playoff] games," Woodson said. "There’s no doubt. We’ve proved we can beat anybody in this league."

Game Five is on Wednesday, when New York will attempt to make it two in a row.
