Amare Stoudemire could miss the rest of the of the 2012 NBA Playoffs after punching a fire extinguisher following the New York Knicks' 104-94 loss to the Miami Heat on Monday night. Stoudemire needed stitches in his left hand and attention from paramedics following the incident. The star forward didn't talk with media after the game, but did tweet an apology to fans:
I am so mad at myself right now, I want to apologize to the fans and my team, not proud of my actions, headed home for a new start

ESPN's Brian Windhorst tweeted out a picture of the type of extinguisher that Stoudemire hit, and it doesn't look particularly soft. Stoudemire left American Airlines Arena with his arm in a sling and his hand taped. Center Tyson Chandler wasn't optimistic about his teammate's Game 3 status following the loss.
"He has a laceration. He's probably going to be out. I don't know how bad it is. Amare is a huge piece to this team," Tyson Chandler said.
