The New York Knicks will play their penultimate game of the regular season tonight against Blake Griffin and the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Knicks come in knowing a playoff berth is sewn up and will probably rest their key players for a majority of the game.
New York is currently holding the seventh seed because of a tiebreaker over the Philadelphia 76ers. However, many pundits feel the Knicks would be very content to slide into the eighth slot and face the Chicago Bulls instead of the Miami Heat.
New York could catch the Orlando Magic for the sixth position in the East if the Knicks win both remaining games and Orlando loses both of their contests. However, the Magic play the Charlotte Bobcats tonight.
The Clippers come in tied with the Memphis Grizzlies for the fourth seed in the Western Conference. If Chris Paul and company win, they would lock up that spot and home-court advantage in the first round because they own the tiebreaker.
It will be interesting to see how much Mike Woodson tries to play Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire together. Those two need to get some chemistry going after Stoudemire missed ample time dealing with his back.
We'll find out whether that trumps rest for the weary tonight at the Garden.
