New York Knicks Rumors: Kenyon Martin Headed To Los Angeles Clippers, According To Report

The New York Knicks are playing like a team that needs plenty of help, but the assistance they require will not come from Kenyon Martin.

The Los Angeles Times reports that the free agent forward, who was recently released by FIBA from his Chinese Basketball Association contract, has agreed to sign a mini mid-level deal to play for the Los Angeles Clippers. The contract should be finalized as soon as Martin passes a physical, an NBA source told the Times.

Martin averaged 8.6 points and 6.2 rebounds with the Denver Nuggets last season, and should provide the relatively thin Clippers front court with an aggressive presence at both ends of the floor.

Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the CBA is attempting to block Martin from returning to the NBA immediately, claiming that he has not yet fulfilled his contractual obligations and that the clearance letter FIBA provided should be retracted. Martin's contract stipulated that he could not sign with any NBA team until his Chinese team's season ended, even though Martin was released early in the Chinese season.
