Report: Carmelo Anthony Trade To Be Finalized Within 48 Hours

Stay connected for news and updates

The clock appears to be running out on the ‘Melo-Drama.’ Finally. According to Newsday the Denver Nuggets are getting pressure from other teams around the NBA to make a decision regarding the Carmelo Anthony trade so that other proposed trades around the league can be completed by the Feb. 24 trade deadline.

The Nuggets, per Newsday, are expected to finalize a deal with either the New York Knicks or New Jersey Nets within the next 24 to 48 hours.

The Knicks have also reportedly told Denver officials that they will not increase the offer they have on the table for Anthony. That offer includes Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, Eddy Curry and a first round pick that would come from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Nets and Nuggets have agreed to a deal that would send Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Melvin Ely and Renaldo Balkman to the Nets in exchange for Derrick Favors, Devin Harris, Ben Uzoh, Troy Murphy and four first-round picks. Anthony, however, has not committed to signing a contract extension with the Nets. Rather, he has expressed his preference for going to the Knicks.

A resolution to the ‘Melo-Drama’ will be appreciated by everyone around the league as it seems the entire NBA has been held hostage to this situation in some way.

It seems, at this point, as though Denver would seem to have to accept the Knicks’ offer.
