Amare Stoudemire: Overseas an Option During NBA Lockout

New York Knicks forward Amare Stoudemire said he will consider playing overseas during the NBA lockout.

The NBA has cancelled the first two weeks of its regular season, but New York Knicks star big man Amare Stoudemire is not ready to stop playing basketball.

In appearances on "SportsCenter" and "ESPN First Take," Stoudemire said he would continue participating in charity exhibitions as long as the lockout ends. He also said he would consider playing overseas during the lockout. Stoudemire had previously rejected the idea of playing overseas, but seems to have softened that stance now that the reality of games being missed is here.

"I think it definitely should be considered; it could be an option," Stoudemire said. "I think the next [labor] meeting is not scheduled yet, but I think after that next meeting then we can figure out where we really stand with this whole thing."

Despite his discussions of what he might do during an extended lockout, Stoudemire expressed a level of confidence that a collective bargaining agreement will ultimately get done.

"I think we're pretty far apart, but the most important part is that we're trying to work to get something done," Stoudemire said. "There are so many jobs at stake; their livelihoods are on the line. We'll get a deal done eventually."
