Morning Coffee! Knicks Make It Rain Three-Pointers

Good morning, New York sports fans!It has been rainy the past couple of days, and that is probably appropriate considering Thursday night's results for the local squads.

  • The New York Knicks scored 70 points in the first half and held off a late surge by the Chicago Bulls for a 120-112 victory Thursday night in Chicago. New York made 16 three-point shots. The Knicks return home to Madison Square Garden, which has been deemed safe, to face the Washington Wizards tonight.
  • The New Jersey Nets blew a fourth-quarter lead and lost to Charlotte, 85-83. The Nets are improved over last season's 12-win squad, but learning to play with a lead is always one of the issues with a young, improving team.
  • The New York Rangers could not stop the red-hot Philadelphia Flyers, falling, 4-1.
  • The New York Islanders have now lost six straight after Thursday's 4-1 loss to Ottawa. Which team is worse, the Islanders or the New Jersey Devils?
  • The season is over for the New York Red Bulls, ousted from the MLS Cup Playoffs by San Jose Thursday night in a surprising 3-1 result. Howard Megdal said the future of the franchise is bright, however.
